MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots - Swatches

Hi everyone,

Welcome back. I love eyeshadow, in all it's forms: pressed powder, loose and cream. So of course the first place I went to for cream eyeshadow is MAC. They used to be called just Paint Pots, but now they are called Pro Longwear Paint Pots. They are cream eyeshadows that come in, yes you guessed it, a glass pot.

In my collection, I have 8 paint pots and 1 chromaline. I included the Chromaline because it is a multi- use product and I personally use it as an eyehsadow base (too transparent as a liner, that's coming in another post).

Paint pots are cream eyeshadows that dry down to a powder. They can be worn alone or under eyeshadow powder. Personally, I use them as both an eyeshadow primer under powder shadow and alone as lid colours on their own. Painterly and Soft Ochre are very well known and much talked-about in the makeup community, but my  personal favourite as a base in Layin' Low because it goes well with my skin tone and evens out my skin on my eyelids. As a lid colour, I love using Eclair (LE) because it is a gorgeous deep gold that goes well with darker skin tones.

L-R  Painterly, Layin' Low, Frozen Violet, Eclair, Rubenesque, Vintage Selection, Mosscape (discontinued), Delft (discontinued) and Chromaline in Marine Ultra

To apply to my lid, I either use a small dense synthetic brush or just my fingers. I use synthetic brushes with cream products because they don't soak up the product and tend to blend well and evenly.
Out of all the colours I own, my favourite is Layin' Low. It apples evenly and blends seamlessly. I try not to apply too much because it will crease , so a I use a  little at a time.
My least favourite of the bunch is Rubenesque. It swatches
gorgeously, but on the lids, its quite difficult to blend evenly. I usually end up with just glitter on my lids and it's just harder to work with.

Have you tried MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots? What are your thoughts? What's your favourite? I'd love to hear from you :)

MAC Paint Pots are sold at mac counters and stores worldwide.

In Nigeria, you can get them from the MAC stores in Lekki, Ikeja (both in Lagos) and Ibadan.
