Foundation Series: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24HR Makeup Review

Hi everyone,

Continuing with our foundation series, I decided to share my thoughts on one of my all time favourite foundations: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Makeup.

What Lancome says:

Up to 24-hour wear for divine, lasting perfection
Following 8 years of research, Lancôme unveils its first ultra-long wear foundation for lasting perfection.
With its new EternalSoft technology, Teint Idole Ultra 24H defeats all challenges. Complexion stays perfectly flawless and unified. Never cakey.

Up to 24-hour divine comfort
In perfect affinity with the skin, Teint Idole Ultra 24H is irresistibly comfortable. Its new, blendable and fresh texture leaves the complexion perfectly smooth, velvety matte with no powdery effect.

What I say:

I love the fact that there is a WIDE range of shades to choose from (depending on where you buy). In the US, there's a whopping 28 shades with references to undertones (warm, cool and neutral). For instance my shade is 470 Suede C  which is equivalent to  11 Muscade in Europe ( I had to chat with a Lancome rep to get this because there is no reference chart available) and it matches me perfectly. I also noticed that the last 5 dark shades have an an SPF of 5 ( the rest are SPF 15) because these shades will look ashy if the SPF is higher than 5 (smart people!), good looking out for our ebony sisters.

It's a liquid foundation  but it' not too "liquid-y" or runny and it's not thick either, just somewhere in-between. It blends out very easily and nicely to  velvety, demi matte finish. It doesn't give that stark, dry matte finish; it still looks like skin. It is really lightweight as well, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing foundation at all. Like Lancome says, it really is comfortable.

Blended out

Depending on your skin type, you may or may not want to set this with powder. I have oily skin so I set mine with powder. however, because it is already a matte foundation, I don't use a mattifying primer underneath because, (on my skin) it makes it harder to blend, so I use the Hourglass Mineral Veil. Even without a primer, this lasts all day on me. I haven't tested the 24-hr claim because I don't wear makeup for that long, but it does last pretty much all day. By the 7-8 hr mark, some oil starts to peek through the very oily areas and I may need to blot.It definitely is long-wearing.

There are  few things I don't like and may be bothersome to some people.

  1. It is fragranced, It's not heavy and it goes away after you apply it, but it may be an issue for some.
  2. The darker shades are only available in cool or warm, no neutrals. That's not cool, Lancome.
  3. For a mid range brand, $47 is a little bit steep.
Overall, I love this foundation, this is my second bottle and will definitely repurchase when this one is done.

Where to buy: It's available in the UK and USA wherever Lancome is sold, it's also available on the lancom website. It retails or $47 in the US and GBP 30 in the UK.

In Nigeria, it's available at Essenza stores, bautyrevng.com, thebpshop.com, muaprong.com and a few others. I don't have the price because of the fluctuating dollar exchange rate in Nigeria (sad, I know)

Have you tried this foundation?  What are your thoughts? I'd love to know, please leave  comment :)
