Current Favourites :August 2017

Hey everyone,

Yes, yes, I've been MIA for a while and there's a good reason. I recently started a new job (yayyy) and I needed to be 100%, so the blog suffered a little bit (I'm really sorry guys), so that I could perform.

Without any further a-do, let's get into today's post: my current favourites.

1. Tom Ford Patchouli Absolu:

Tom Ford Patchouli Absolu

I got this as a gift and I've used it EVERYDAY since I got it. I suck at describing scents, but you definitely get the Patchouli scent right off the bat once you spray it. It starts off really heady and strong but then fades into a warm, slightly sweet scent when it settles with my skin and my own body chemistry. It's particularly lovely when I layer it with Guerlain's Petite Robe Noir (another heady but slightly sweeter scent) I absolu-tely love it (see what I did there, hehe). This was a gift, so I don't know where (for sure) you can get this in Nigeria.

2. Garnier Pure Active Micellar Water for Combination to Oily + Sensitive Skin:

If you follow me on instagram (you really should ya know, my handle is @coverallsandlipstick) you may remember when I shared when I got this. Well I loved it so much I got a back up (no stories). It takes all my makeup off and so far, I have not noticed any reactions on my skin, which shows that it really is for sensitive skin. It does not leave an oily film which I really appreciate. I still wash my face afterwards or if i'm super duper tired, I'll use a deep cleansing toner.

Garnier Pure Active Micellar Water

I got mine here in Nigeria at Spar Supermarket for about N2,860. If you're in the UK, you can get it at Superdrug, Boots and any other drugstore that carries Garnier products. I don't know if this particular variant is available in the US, but there is one for oily skin (the bi-phase one, I've used that too and I liked it).

3. Garnier Soothing 2-in-1 Makeup Remover for Face and Eyes

Apart from the fact that I have sensitive skin, I also have very sensitive eyes, so I need something that takes off my heavy duty eyeliner (Inglot Gel Liner in 77) and mascara. I got this the same day I got the Micellar Water, from the same place (Spar). I don't use it for my face (I'm not ready to risk it yet) but it is REALLY good for my sensitive eyes and i takes off ALL my eye makeup without much effort. The best part is the price, I got it for about N1,860 which is not bad at all.

4. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution
I added glycolic acid to my skincare regimen years ago, but my skin was going through a lot at the time and it just made things worse. I had invested in quite a few (expensive) products but gave them all away. Now that my skin has started to heal (thanks to my cousin's incredible black soap mix and the Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Correcting Serum) I decided to try glycolic acid again. It was also a good opportunity to try The Ordinary brand, as I've heard good things and they're supposedly really affordable.

Well it's in my favourites so it's obvious I like it right? Nope, I LOVE this stuff. It's like this was what I needed to tie all my skincare products together. The concentration is just right for my sensitive skin and it has other ingredients that calm the skin. I've certainly noticed a difference in my skin since I started using it; acne scars are fading and my texture is so much better. I'm definitely repurchasing once I'm out. I got mine from Beautyfrenzy Shop on instagram.

5. Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Body Buttercream

Soap and Glory Smoothie Star
Again, if you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I love Soap and Glory products, especially their Hand Food cream. I also love their body butters and this month I've been using this one. I'm a die hard fan of The Righteous Body Butter, but this one is also incredible. It's got a lovely pistachio, almond and sweet vanilla fragrance and is slightly thicker than the other body butters but still lightly whipped. I don't where you can get this in Nigeria but it's available at Boots in the UK and Ulta in the US.

6. L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

I really like this foundation. I use the shade 111 Soft Sable to lighten up my darker foundation shades. It's warm so it doesn't make the mix ashy. I also like to mix it with more watery and glowy foundations to make them more mattifying.

7. MAC 138 Tapered Face Brush

MAC 138 Tapered Face Brush

I'm not particularly into MAC face brushes ( I do like their eye brushes though) because I find most of the ones I've used a bit scratchy. However, I really like the 138. It's dense enough to pick up enough product but fluffy enough to blend out. I use it to apply face powder to set my foundation. I like the it's tapered shape because it rally gets into the corners of my face like around my nose and under my eyes. It's also very soft. There are quite a few dupes on the market ( I have two of them but they're not as soft as this) If you get one MAC face brush, let it be the 138.
You can get it from all MAC stores and counters worldwide and maccosmetics.com

Clinique Moisture Surge Facial Mist

A post shared by Eb (@coverallsandlipstick) on

I used to use the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturizer until my skin turned on me and I started breaking out. I started incorporating this into my routine to add some moisture, especially after I use the glycolic acid serum. I also use it to set my makeup and take away the powdery look. I would definitely repurchase this again and again.

You can get this at all Clinique stores and counters and The Nail Studio in Victoria Island in Nigeria.

So there you have it, these are my current favourites. I don't have a lot of makeup favourites because I've been using the same things really. What have been your favourites, I'd love to hear them. Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!!
